Is the End of the World May 21st? 5 Things You Need to Know

May 21, 2001: The End of the World? In case you haven’t heard, a group of Christians is proclaiming that Judgment Day is May 21st, and that precisely five months later on October 21st, earth will be blown up and completely obliterated.

Yeah, sure.

I read the media’s articles on it. I read eBibleFellowship’s materials with an open mind. I even read—surprise, surprise—the actual Bible (not in Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. I mean c’mon, I’m a bit rusty in those languages).

So here are five important things you NEED to know about this prediction:

  1. First off, who exactly figured May 21st would be the date? That would be retired 89-year-old civil engineer Harold Camping, founder of Family Radio and chief promoter of the movement. In fact, he is so confident about his message that his radio station prerecorded the shows for the week leading up to May 21st and abandoned the facility. (sourceanother source)

True Beauty

40 Years and True BeautyAs the sun was setting along the Florida coast, a couple was walking hand-in-hand along the sandy beach. Forty years had passed since they exchanged vows, and as they walked, they joyfully remembered the many memories of the past decades.

The beach was completely empty, until the wife noticed the striking figure of a young woman in a brand new bikini walking in the opposite direction. The wife instantly felt a sense of insecurity as this perfect ten strolled by, searching for attention.

The wife was surprised when she turned to her husband, who was gazing at her the entire time. A big smile graced his face. “Baby, you are so beautiful.”
Her heart skipped a beat—maybe two. She stopped walking and looked into his eyes. “How can you say that? I’m not nearly as beautiful as that young woman. I’m old and wrinkly…and barely attractive. What makes you think I’m still beautiful?” Continue reading

If Jesus had a Facebook…

If Jesus had a Facebook...With over 500,000,000 users, what would happen if Jesus decided it was high-time to get high-tech and sign up for Facebook? I know there are a lot of fake profiles around, but seriously, what would happen if Jesus actually plunged into the world of social networking?

My imagination, which is the source for all reliable information, has enlightened me that it would look like this…

He would have to turn off Facebook Places; checking in everywhere at once tends to crash the servers.
His work experiences would be Freelance Teacher, Good Shepherd, and Carpenter for Joseph & Sons.
His favorite sports team would be the Anaheim Angels (not the Dallas Cowboys).
His least favorite sports team would be the New Jersey Devils.
His favorite athlete would be Tim Tebow. Continue reading

Wedding Cakes and Bible Verses

Wedding Cakes and Bible VersesA friend of mine posted this as a Facebook Note, and I could not resist reposting it here. :D

A young and nervous bride was planning her wedding and was increasingly terrified about her upcoming marriage. To calm her nerves, she decided to have a Bible verse, which had always brought her comfort, engraved on her wedding cake: 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love; for perfect love casts out fear.” So she called the caterer and all arrangements were made.

About a week before the wedding, she received a call from the catering company. “Is this really the verse you want on your cake?” “Yes,” she confirmed. After a few more questions, they agreed to decorate the cake as requested.

The wedding day came, and everything was beautiful…until the reception, Continue reading
